Barbed wire is a two strand wire that has sharp pointed protrusions (barbs) about every 6 inches. It is often used on top of chain link security fences to discourage climbing. Razor ribbon can be added to make your fenced area even more secure.
Barbed wire is also used on farms as an inexpensive yet effective way to contain livestock. Several strands of barbed wire are installed horizontally on wood or metal posts to form a perimeter. The sharp barbs keep cattle from damaging the fence by pushing up against it.
